Our partner meeting on May 27 was a great opportunity to share news of how GODAN is developing as an initiative. USDA’s Jaime Adams gave an overview of GODAN to the Secretariat and partners and the ODI’s Liz Carolan and Fiona Smith, provided the participants with a sneak preview of the discussion paper.

Partner break-out groups then explored a series of real world problems in the sector and how they relate to our GODAN Statement of Purpose. Specific focus was on: Public-private cooperation, nutrition data, and the Open Data Charter. Draft notes can be found here. website iodc image 6

Chris Addison (CTA) summed up key points from the ‘Data + Agriculture’ impact session and presented CTA’s perspective on the open data challenges and opportunities ahead. Chris was one of four presenters in the ‘Public Interest Innovation with Open Data’ action track session.

Presentations were followed by a group discussion session in which participants explored a range of topics on public interest innovation through open data. See the session notes here. GODAN partner perspectives from the pre-meeting, impact and action track sessions were shared with other networks in this session. IODC was just one of the events you can find us at this year. We look forward to following our success at IODC with a series of GODAN events and presentations including those at the Open Data for Africa Conference. We will also attend the Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural Statistics conference.
